One week in Crete, july 2014!

Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek Islands, the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and one of the 13 administrive regions of Greece. The capital and the largest city of Crete is Heraklion. It forms a significant part of the economy and cultural heritage of Greece while retaining its own local cultural traits (such as its own poetry and music. Crete was once the center of the Minoan civilization (circa 2700–1420 BC), which is currently regarded as the earliest recorded civilization in Europe. The population on Crete is 600.000.
The main sources of wealth in Crete are agriculture and tourism. The cultivation of the olive trees is very important in Crete and excellent virgin olive oil is produced here. Other important products include oranges, grapes and vegetables from greenhouses. Honey, cheese and herbs are of excellent quality also. Finally, big numbers of sheep and goats are raised in Crete.
Crete is also one of the biggest holiday destinations for thousands of Scandinavians thru the summer months, here we either come for 1 or 2 weeks to relax and get some quality sun.
We came down by plane directly from Trondheim to Chania on Crete, this trip is created by my father and my stepmother to celebrate their 60th year. We are staying at Platanias, 12km to the west of Chania at a hotel near the beach. This week is all about relaxation, celebration , and have some fun as a family.
